Lore

The Realm of Kyrath

Long hath the kingdom of Kyrath endured at the edge of the known world, its forests deep with ancient magic, its people resolute as the stones of the old keep. For generations, the foe was but a tale told to frighten children — shadows at the tree-line, distant thunder that never broke.

No longer.

The Cinderhoof cavalry ride at the vanguard, their hooves like hammers upon the earth. Behind them surge the Vermin — a black tide of spiders that flows around every obstacle and through every gap. The Black Phantoms drift unseen until it is too late, and the Iron Brutes shrug off all but the heaviest of blows.

Kyrath's defenders are many, but the path is narrow and the night is long. You must choose your wardens wisely, spend your gold with care, and never — not once — let the castle fall.

Thy Arsenal

Warden Showcase

Kyrath is no silent chessboard. With over 100 voice lines woven through the game, wardens talk back when they take the field, celebrate when they are promoted, and roar into battle as they charge. The menus speak up too. The keep hums with life, banter, and bagpipes — and more of the realm finds its voice with every patch on the way to launch.

Sylvan warden — animated

Sylvan

Swift elven archer, first line of defense. Her arrows find their mark before the enemy hears the bowstring.

Pyre warden — animated

Pyre

Hurls flaming balls that scorch all in their wake. The fire remembers every creature that dared pass.

Deadeye warden

Deadeye

A master archer of unerring aim and fearsome reach. One shot, one kill. A single Deadeye can command the longest corridor in the realm.

Stinger warden

Stinger

Looses venomed barbs that sap the life from all they pierce. The poison lingers long after the arrow hath struck.

Ironguard warden — animated

Ironguard

Armored sentinel that holds the line with unyielding steel. Where others falter, the Ironguard stands.

Bombard warden — animated

Bombard

Fearsome range, devastating splash. A single shot may slay a crowd. Do not place it where allies may suffer its wrath.

McClouds — animated

McClouds

Summons brave warriors onto the path itself. Where wardens cannot reach, the McClouds will stand.

Frostweaver warden

Frostweaver

Conjures an icy spray that slows all who pass through it. A single Frostweaver can cripple an entire wave.

Frostfang warden

Frostfang

An ancient frost serpent of terrible patience. Its icy fangs chill the blood of any foe, slowing them to a crawl ere the killing blow.

Know Thine Enemy

The Enemy Bestiary

Cinderhoof cavalry — animated

Cinderhoof

Armored cavalry that charges the vanguard. Fast, resilient, and merciless — they do not slow for the fallen.

Vermin spiders — animated

Vermin

A black tide of spiders that overwhelms by sheer number. Cheap to summon by the darkness, expensive to destroy.

Hex Crone

Hex Crone

A venomous hag who shuffles forth with malice most foul. Slow of foot, yet stout of constitution.

Hulking Ogre — animated

Hulking Ogre

Enormous, armored, slow — but nearly indestructible. Concentrate fire or watch it walk unopposed through your defenses.

Barbarian warrior

Barbarian

A savage warrior of terrible strength. Neither swift nor subtle, but what he lacks in cunning he repays in punishment.

Black Phantom

Black Phantom

A spectral horror that drifts unseen through the darkness. By the time thy wardens mark it, the gates may already tremble.

Spriggan

Spriggan

Wee furious sprites of the woodland, fed up with the kingdom's creep into their ancient groves. Tiny, fast, and apoplectic with rage.

Bog Matron

Bog Matron

Queen of the northern swarm. A hulking arachnid that spits venom from afar and shrugs off piercing blows. Only fire may humble her.
