The Barbarian Clans
Also known as: Steppe-Rovers, Scar-Counts, The Hundred Clans
mortalfoe
Brutish warbands of the steppe-clans — rough-hewn warriors who press where numbers may prevail.
Origins
Cast out from the old steppe-confederacies long before Kyrath was raised, the Barbarian bands have wandered the high grass ever since. Their chieftains rise on strength alone, and fall the same day they fail to prove it.
Culture
No holdings, no walls, no letters. Tradition is kept by oral law and trial by blade. The name 'Barbarian' is the realm's — the clans themselves hold a hundred names, and no single one will answer for the rest. A Barbarian doth not seek to rule the steppes; he seeks to eat well, drink deep, and be remembered by his scar-count.
Combat Style
Balanced and relentless. A Barbarian is neither the swiftest nor the cleverest of foes, but striketh harder than his rough arms ought. Ravagers break shield-walls; chargers run down stragglers; ironhide warriors outlast the patience of any but the most disciplined wardens.
Relations
Uneasy peers of the Bouldersworn — they share steppe and grievance, but rarely a campfire. Pay no heed to the Ashborn; are baffled by the Hedge Witches.
Sigil
A clan-mark gouged deep into raw hide.
